DeeeeeeeeeeeesStresssssss
Americans have elevated STRESS to an art form. We thrive on it, always competing to be number one. All that drive to achieve is really stress dressed in a three-piece suit. Stress can show up as long hours on the computer, driving in traffic, a spat with the spouse, an aching back, intense exercise, and of course the heavy hitters, divorce, death and trauma. In any form, stress is dangerous to your health. It contributes to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, body fat around your middle, depression and premature aging.
Managing stress is essential to acquiring and maintaining vibrant health. Meditation, yoga, guided imagery, breathing techniques, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, energy work, hands-on bodywork and even bubble baths are all ways to reduce stress. Finding your path to bliss will shift your body chemistry from destructive to restorative.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, wonderful, restorative sleep. We all need it, but do we get it? Sadly no. Studies show that humans function best on 8 to 9 hours of sleep a night. Good quality sleep is needed for the repair and maintenance your body undergoes every night. Not only does your physical body suffer from lack of adequate sleep, but also your brain chemistry becomes unbalanced, which means you’ll be misplacing your keys on a regular basis. If I told you that you could drop body fat simply by getting more sleep, would you? Good, get to bed.
With some lifestyle coaching, proper nutrition, stress reduction and simple adjustments to your bedroom, you can get the sleep and rest you need to feel energetic and productive.
